This is a retreat home with resort-like qualities located in the Columbia Valley of Eastern Washington. The architecture created by Garret Cord Werner features a fully holistic, integrated design that merges the building into the landscape. By carefully excavating parts of the property, we have created a private desert-like canyon courtyard with sculptural rock and minimal landscape where one can seek shelter from the sun and wind of the desert climate while maintaining views through the home. The home is both anchored and floating simultaneously, but classic in its modernism, while creating a warm and inviting atmosphere inside. Often, very modern structures lose their home-like qualities when they become too sparse. At Garret Cord Werner, we take great care to make sure that our homes are warm and inviting with an artful fix of materials, furnishings, art, and landscape that all come together simultaneously to truly complete the essence of what a home should be.
